The terms of your use of the Third-Party Software are subject to and governed by the respective license terms, except that this Section 1 and Sections 5 and 6 of this Agreement also govern your use of the Third-Party Software. The Third-Party Software is generally not governed by the terms set forth below but is subject to different terms and conditions imposed by the licensors of such Third-Party Software. “Third-Party Software” means certain software licensed by Seagate from third parties that may be provided with the specific version of Software that you have licensed. The term “Software” does not refer to or include “Third-Party Software”. The Software is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws and treaties, including, without limitation, the copyright laws of the United States and other countries. The structure, organization, and code of the Software are the valuable trade secrets and confidential information of Seagate and its suppliers. Seagate Technology LLC (“Seagate”) and its suppliers own all right, title, and interest in and to the Software, including all intellectual property rights therein. Seagate may in its sole discretion modify its Limited Warranty at any time and from time to time.ġ. Seagate makes no representation, warranty or guaranty, express or implied regarding the Products except its standard form of limited warranty ("Limited Warranty"). This Limited Warranty extends to Seagate's direct customer only and is not assignable or transferable. Repaired or exchanged Product will be warranted for a period of ninety (90) days for Disc Products and six (6) months for Tape Products from the date of shipment by Seagate, or the remainder of the original warranty, whichever is the longer. Seagate will pay for transporting the repaired or exchanged Product to Customer. Customer should obtain a Return Material Authorization ("RMA") number from their point of purchase or from Seagate prior to returning the nonconforming Product freight prepaid. You must be able to supply the appropriate password or SID (printed on the drive's top label) to begin the cryptographic erase.īeginning on the date of shipment to its direct customer and continuing for the published warranty period, Seagate represents that the Products are new or, if they contain remanufactured or used components, are the equivalent of new in performance and reliability and warrants that each Product failing to function properly under normal use, due to a defect in materials or workmanship or due to nonconformance to the published specifications, will be repaired or exchanged, at Seagate's option and expense. If the drive is a Full Disk Encryption model disk drive, then this option will be available. This test may take several hours to complete.Į FDE Crypto Erase. This command writes zeros to every sector on the hard drive. Using the time value set under the T selection, the drive will erase sectors for that time duration.Į Full Erase. Use this to clear out an old operating system installation. SeaTools for DOS will attempt to send passwords to the drive as ASCII characters first then as keyboard scan codes second, if the first is not accepted.Į Erase Track Zero. However, some systems are known to save the passwords as keyboard scan codes or even encrypted. User passwords which are set in the system BIOS are saved to the hard drive usually as ASCII text characters. If your drive has an active user password, you must be able to supply the appropriate password to begin the secure erase. If the Secure Erase procedure is interrupted then the temporary user password will still be active. This password will be removed at the end of the Secure Erase so you never need to actually use it to access your drive. If your drive does not have a user password, SeaTools for DOS will set a temporary password "idrive" without the quotes. Secure Erase requires a user password to run which is deleted at the conclusion of the procedure. In Enhanced Erase mode, all previously written user data shall be overwritten, including sectors that are no longer in use due to reallocation. This method uses the drive firmware to erase the data by overwriting the data with zeros. Five choices are available under this section:Į Secure Erase.
